Description
Strathmill 12 years, a single cask distilled in March 2010 and bottled in April 2022 for Duncan Taylor and it’s now yours. Strathmill Distillery is in Keith, within the Speyside region. Once owned by your favorite college gin, Gilbey, it is now with the Diageo Empire where Strathmill supplies much of the juice for J&B Blended Scotch.
I am always intrigued to drink a single malt that supplies a well-known blend. Now don't compare this Strathmill to J&B, I am sure the Strathmill you are drinking now is at least 9 years older than the Strathmill getting blended. I’m also excited to drink more from Duncan Taylor, an Independent bottler that has eluded Cask over the past few years.
And this whiskey is great. It’s a lovely Spring Training whisky. It’s light enough to make a High Ball and watch some baseball. But it's still deep in character and always developing to keep you warm to finish this winter. Look for notes of orchard fruits, vanilla fudge, croissants and nougat on the nose. The palate is a little greener with apples, grass, citrus and celery. You should expect more spice on the finish with cinnamon, and nutmeg.
